Klaviyo user guide

Connect Klaviyo to Claude in four steps

Serve MCP gives your AI assistant a safe, permissioned connection to your Klaviyo account — so you can ask for a campaign report or build a segment in plain language instead of clicking through to find it.

Connect Klaviyo

Connect your Klaviyo account

Open servemcp.com/install/klaviyo and sign in. You will land on Klaviyo's own authorization screen, where you can review what Serve MCP is asking for and approve it.

If you manage several brands, you will be asked which workspace the account belongs to first. Each workspace keeps its connections separate, so one client's assistant can never see another's Klaviyo data.

Connect your AI assistant

Copy your workspace's MCP endpoint from Settings. In Claude, go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector and paste it. Other MCP clients — ChatGPT, Cursor — take the same URL.

Full setup for every client is on the connect page.

Choose what it is allowed to do

Klaviyo tools that only read — reports, lists, segments, campaign performance — are available straight away. Everything that changes your account is switched off until you turn it on.

Open your workspace, find the Klaviyo connection and enable the specific tools you want. Turn on Create Segment without turning on Send Campaign, if that is where you want the line.

Ask it something

Plain language is the whole interface. Things people ask on day one:

  • “What were the open and click rates on my last five Klaviyo campaigns?”
  • “Which of my flows brought in the most revenue in the last 30 days?”
  • “How many profiles are in my largest list, and how has it grown?”
  • “Build a segment of people who opened an email but have not purchased in 60 days.”

What each permission is for

Klaviyo asks you to approve a list of permissions when you connect. Here is what Serve MCP uses each one for. Nothing on this list happens without you enabling the matching tool first.

Campaigns
Read campaign performance, and create or edit campaigns as drafts.
Flows
Read flow performance and definitions, and turn a flow on or off.
Lists and segments
Read them, create them, and add or remove profiles.
Profiles
Read, create, update, merge and suppress individual profiles.
Templates
Read, create and clone email templates, and generate preview sends.
Metrics and events
Read metrics for reporting, and record custom events.
Catalogs
Read products and variants, so reporting can reference them. Never written to.
Images, tags, coupons
Upload creative images, apply tags, and create coupon codes for a campaign.

Read-only until you decide otherwise

Every tool that changes your Klaviyo account is disabled when you connect. An admin enables them one at a time, per workspace.

Your data is not stored

Serve MCP holds an encrypted token and nothing else. Klaviyo responses pass through to your assistant and are not retained.

Drafts, not sends

Campaign tools create drafts you review in Klaviyo. Sending is a separate tool, off by default, and asks for confirmation.

Managing or removing the connection

Your Klaviyo settings live at servemcp.com/settings/klaviyo. From there you can see which account is connected, how many tools are available to your assistant, reconnect, or disconnect entirely.

Disconnecting deletes the stored token immediately and the tools stop being offered. You can also revoke Serve MCP from inside Klaviyo's own account settings; we treat that as an expired connection and ask you to reconnect rather than retrying.
